The Lead Hazard Reduction Demonstration Grant through the Department of Housing and Urban Development provides funding to identify and control lead-based paint hazards in eligible privately owned rental or owner-occupied housing. the Program is targeted to urban jurisdictions that have at least 3,500 pre-1940 occupied rental housing units. Reentry Projects Grant

The Department of Labor’s Reentry Projects grant allowed 13 local Financial Opportunity Center (FOC) partners (including the John Boner Neighborhood Centers) to implement LISC’s Bridges to Career Opportunities training and employment plan for formerly incarcerated individuals immediately following their releases.

The Arts Council’s “Our Town” project, funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, united neighbors, artists, and officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) to develop and implement arts-based interventions to reduce crime in the IndyEast Promise Zone.

Guidelines for Brownfields Assessment Grants

The FY17 U.S. EPA Brownfields Assessment Grant will provide funding to conduct Phase I and Phase II environmental sites assessments on sites within the Indy East Promise Zone. The assessments will be used to assess the threat of hazardous substances, petroleum, and other contaminants present or potentially present in soil and groundwater at selected sites.

The National Endowment for the Arts’ Challenge America Gran funded a public sculpture commissioned by the Harrison Center for the Arts and created by Quincy Owens and Luke Crawley. Located in the Monon 16 neighborhood, the sculpture was part of a creative placemaking initiative that fulfilled Buy IndyEast subgoals.
