It’s time to update the Near Eastside Quality of Life Plan, and we need your input. All Near Eastside neighbors are invited to come and make their voices heard as we update, modify, and add to the Plan in our new ‘Community Conversations’ format.
Each Community Conversation will center around two Focus Areas – each featuring Priorities and associated Action Items determined by you, our Near Eastside neighbors. The first Community Conversation will be held on Thursday, January 16th from 6pm-7:30pm at Englewood Christian Church, focused on the Housing, and Placemaking & Infrastructure areas. (Light refreshments will be provided.)
Community Conversations will take place every other month throughout 2025 and will each be preceded by a Planning Meeting, to be held one week prior to each Community Conversation, also at the same time and location. (Planning Meetings are intended to be a smaller gathering for the purpose of agenda-setting and editing Action Items before they are presented to the full meeting for discussion the following Thursday.)
The Community Conversation format will be as follows:
6:00 PM | Welcome, Agenda, Ice Breaker
6:10 PM | Overview of Housing, Placemaking & Infrastructure
6:30 PM | Break-Out Groups
7:15 PM | Recap
• Recap and/or vote on any new, eliminated, or modified Housing priorities (75% to pass).
• Recap and/or vote on any new, eliminated, or modified Placemaking & Infrastructure priorities (75% to pass).
Looking ahead, upcoming Focus Areas will be:
- March 20th (6pm-7:30pm): Education, and Health, Wellness & Family Strengthening; Planning Meeting: March 13th (6pm-7:30pm)
- May 22nd (6pm-7:30pm): Arts & Culture, and Economic & Workforce Development; Planning Meeting: May 15th (6pm-7:30pm)
- August 21st (6pm-7:30pm): Safety, and Sustainability; Planning Meeting: August 14th (6pm-7:30pm)
- October 18th (4pm-6pm): Fall Festival – Year-in-Review
NOTE: All are welcome at both the Community Conversations and at the Planning Meetings. No previous experience is required. Whether you’ve participated in Quality of Life Plan meetings and activities in the past, or whether this is your first time attending, your contributions are valuable and needed.
