Education and Outreach Initiatives

HUD awarded this Education and Outreach grant to the Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana. Through this grant, the Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana will be able to improve and expand its programming to inform renters and homebuyers of their rights in order to ensure that housing discrimination is brought to the attention of authorities and that violators of discrimination laws are prosecuted.

The Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership (INHP) was a sub-grantee of the Housing Partnership Network’s Housing Counseling funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, which will support INHP’s Homeownership Preparation Program serves all of Marion County, but funds will be utilized in the Promise Zone geographic area.

Housing Counseling Program

IHCDA will use this grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development to provide funding for counseling and advice to tenants and homeowners, both current and prospective, with respect to property maintenance, financial management and literacy, and other matters as may be appropriate to assist program clients in improving their housing conditions, meeting their financial needs, and fulfilling the responsibilities of tenancy or homeownership.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

Through USDA, State SNAP agencies can receive reimbursement for approximately 50 percent of their administrative costs for outreach to low-income people. States can develop an outreach plan at their option. Community and faith-based organization may serve as subgrantees under the State outreach plan or the State may conduct the work “in-house.”
