RecycleForce’s Training-to-Work Adult Reentry grant from the Department of Labor allowed it to add 170 positions for ex-offenders seeking to successfully make new lives for themselves by completing occupational training and becoming employed.
This grant will support Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership (INHP)’s housing counseling programs. INHP’s homeownership and education programs increase homeownership, density, and home values and lower vacancy rates by creating diverse housing opportunities for new neighbors by offering comprehensive homeownership preparation services which include one-on-one homeownership advising, homeownership education classes, and mortgage coaching. The Assets for Independence grant increased the number of Individual Development Accounts (IDAs) available through the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority. IDAs allow low to moderate income families to use personal savings in conjunction with matched funds to accelerate savings and acquire assets – homeownership, business development, or further education or vocational training.
