Legacy Center Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary
When Indianapolis hosted the Super Bowl 10 years ago, the NFL’s $1 million gift was leveraged by the Near Eastside to raise additional private donations from Lilly Endowment, JP Morgan Chase, NFL Charities, Lumina Foundation, United Water, NFL Youth Football Fund, LISC, and United Way of Central Indiana to raise $11.3 million to build the Boner Fitness and Learning Center at the Chase Legacy Building.
Over these 10 years, the Legacy center has become a mainstay in this community, serving over 9,351 guests with a whopping 452, 385 check-ins. Situated right on the historic Arsenal Tech High School campus, the Legacy Center represents not just what this community could be, but what this community rich and vibrant history. Furthermore, the Legacy Center serves not just as a community gym facility, but also as a location of many of John Boner Neighborhood Centers’ summer camps and children’s programming. The facilities include several learning spaces including a growing space and an industrial kitchen, where children and families alike can learn how to cook and prepare healthy meals. However you have experienced the Legacy Center, you know the impact it has had on the children and families of the near eastside.
Throughout the last 10 years, JBNC and The Legacy Center have become a staple in the lives of so many near eastside residents, so please join with us to celebrate this momentous occasion!
