The Community Economic Development (CED) program is one of seven programs within the Office of Community Services (OCS) focused on reducing poverty, and the only federal program with a primary focus on creating jobs for individuals with low income in communities with high rates of unemployment and poverty. The CED program addresses the economic needs of low-income families through the creation of sustainable business development and employment opportunities for individuals with low income. The CED program strengthens families and communities by investing in local businesses, creating jobs that employ individuals with low income, and growing local revenue.
