Assets for Independence (AFI), was funded through a grant from the Department of Health and Human Services awarded to the John Boner Neighborhood Centers. By matching the amounts saved by low-income families in Individual Development Accounts (IDAs) and providing financial education services to account holders, AFI demonstrated the use and impact of IDAs to help low-income individuals achieve self-sufficiency.
